1. Ardrossan Boarded Skating Rink and Leisure Ice
Permanent link to Ardrossan Boarded Skating Rink and Leisure IceA boarded skating rink and leisure ice was installed adjacent to the Ardrossan Recreation Complex in 2015. A concrete base has been added to the rink to allow for seasonal activities.

In December 2018, Council approved funds to develop a multi-use trail and a paved parking lot in Ardrossan. The parking lot provides extra parking for local events and recreation complex users. The trail enhances the walkability from Main street to Queen street.
Construction of the parking lot began in May 2020, and was completed in 2022.

The Ardrossan Skateboard Park project was completed in June 2021. The new Ardrossan Skate Park took on cues from some local influences when creating the concrete surfaces and features. The skate park is located at 45 Queen Street (Google Maps link) (the east side of the road, across the street from the Ardrossan Recreation Complex), Ardrossan.

This spray park and playground is located in the Ardrossan Regional Park and features a recirculating water system that collects, treats, and reuses the water.

A 3-meter wide asphalt trail and pedestrian bridge which connects Creekside Drive with Third Avenue is now complete. This pathway allows pedestrians to access the Ardrossan Recreation Complex and the new boarded ice rink.

6. Broadmoor Lake Park Spray Park and Playground

The concrete walkway connecting the existing spray park to Jim Common Drive, the concrete pad for the portable toilet and the concrete apron along the existing spray pad were installed. Opening date for the spray park was June 22, 2012.

The Deermound Dog Off Leash Park is a multi-purpose park serving residents across the County. The Park is located just west of Highway 21 and Highway 628 and is Strathcona County's only off-leash site. It is also enjoyed by nearby residents as their local park and is a beautiful natural area.

Emerald Hills Regional Park and Sports Pavilion officially opened in the fall of 2016.

The Summerton Spray Deck features:
- New spray deck with 18 spray components
- Sidewalk around the spray deck to reach the playground
- A seasonal washroom
- Seating area and picnic tables

Council approved the Outdoor Aquatic Spray Deck and Spray Park Strategy in 2017 that provides direction on how to plan and implement future outdoor spray deck and spray park facilities.
A review of park sites in Strathcona County was completed in 2018 and McPherson Park, in The Ridge, was chosen based on an extensive site selection process using a site assessment tool. The tool assesses available services and site characteristics such as park size, demographics, adjacent land uses, vehicle and pedestrian access, shading, and parking.
A new spray deck in the works
- Designed to complement other play features in McPherson Park
- Conserves water with a "push-on" button and automatic shut-off feature
- Includes the addition of a portable washroom, shading, and seating
- Solar panels will be used to sustainably power the spray deck

1. Centennial Park Diamond #5 Revitalization
Permanent link to Centennial Park Diamond #5 RevitalizationJune 2010, the Sportsfield Strategy was approved by Council as a long-term strategic document that will guide outdoor sportsfield re-development, development and management. This document promotes revitalizing existing sportsfield infrastructure before providing new.
Due to a 2011 project which re-aligns and reconfigures four diamonds at the Sherwood Heights park, there became a need to find a location that could fit a Bantam level diamond that has minimal residential conflicts and could be a noteworthy diamond for Provincial level baseball tournament play.
March 6, 2012, Council approved funds to expand the Centennial Park Ball Diamond #5. This revitalized ball diamond will accommodate local minor Bantam level baseball.
Work to expand the Centennial Park Ball Diamond #5 is complete.

2. Heritage Hills Ball Diamond Revitalization

March 6, 2012, Council approved funds to expand the Heritage Hills Park Ball Diamond. The project included the expansion of the infield and the addition of foul line fencing.

3. Sherwood Heights Park - Ball Diamond Revitalization
Permanent link to Sherwood Heights Park - Ball Diamond RevitalizationStrathcona County, in association with the Sherwood Park Minor Ball Association (SPMBA), has completed the redevelopment of the baseball fields at Sherwood Heights Park. This revitalization project included the re-orientation of the four baseball fields, complete with new fencing, backstops, dugouts, sod and shale infields.

Centennial Wetland North Trail – Resting Area Project
Thanks to a contribution from Pembina Pipeline Corporation a new resting area has been developed along the Centennial Wetland North Trail. Design elements of the resting area include picnic tables, benches, trees, native shrubs, a granular pad and more.

11. Heritage Hills Wetland Trail Revitalization
Permanent link to Heritage Hills Wetland Trail RevitalizationBased on feedback collected at the September 29, 2009 open house, upgrades to the gravel trail at Heritage Hills Wetland were needed. Construction was completed Spring 2010.

The existing trail in Josephburg Heritage Park was built thanks to the efforts of the Josephburg Agriculture Society in 1989 when the Heritage Park was constructed. Over the years the trail has deteriorated and was identified in the Josephburg Community Recreation Master Plan as a rehabilitation project.
The Josephburg Community Recreation Master Plan was approved by Council on November 6, 2012 and was developed to help guide Strathcona County's attention and investment within the hamlet boundaries for the next 10+ years. Josephburg Community Recreation Master Plan
The plan is based on four themes:

- Sports
- Specialty Areas
- Community Gathering
The trail rehabilitation project is the first project from the Josephburg Community Recreation Master Plan to move forward and is now complete. The new trail offers multi-use opportunities for the whole community.

Construction of the asphalt trail in Ordze Park is now complete.

As part of the Strathcona County Trails Strategy, trails were identified as being an essential outdoor recreational amenity. These trail linkages provide residents with opportunities to actively and safely connect to the surrounding neighbourhoods and experience a greater quality of life.
Beginning early to mid-July 2021, Strathcona County constructed a new asphalt trail connecting the existing trail in the Municipal Reserve (MR) adjacent to Sherwood Estates up to Range Road 232 and run along the east side of Range Road 232 to the Whitecroft Estates north access road (see enclosed map). A connection was also made on the north side of Estate Drive east of Range Road 232. These 3m wide multi-use asphalt trails help connect residents from the urban fringe areas to the Sherwood Park Urban Area. It also provides a paved surface for residents to visit Salisbury Greenhouse and Farmers Market.
Construction was completed in late 2021.

16. RR 233 Sherwood Golf and Country Club Estates Trail

Construction of the RR 233 Sherwood Golf and Country Club Estates Trail commenced in early summer 2021.

Construction of the Ridgepoint Trail is complete. This north/south missing link will connect to the existing Heritage Parkway Trail at Ridgepoint Way and run south to Wye Road.

Beginning in May 2022, Strathcona County constructed a new three (3) meter wide asphalt trail on the east side of Highway 21 from Wye Road north to the subdivision road. This trail helps connect residents safely from Wyecliff Estates to Sherwood Park.
Construction for this project is complete.

Strathcona County is proud to be part of the regional trail system along the North Saskatchewan River. The Strathcona County Regional Trail portion is 22 kilometres long, and connects the Strathcona Provincial Science Park to Fort Saskatchewan.

Funding for this trail has been made possible through contributions by Strathcona County, Trans Canada Trail, River Valley Alliance and Inter Pipeline Ltd.
Riverside Nature Trail (841.2 KB)
This 5.5 km riverside nature trail runs along the North Saskatchewan River and was constructed in partnership with the River Valley Alliance. One trailhead is at Township Road 540 and Range Road 232. The other trail head is west on Township Road 540, about 1 km.
Riverside Nature Trail accessibility- Riverside Nature Trail is accessible for wheelchair users. It has a hard packed surface with loose gravel on the surface. Please note that users need to manoeuvre a turn while going through the gate.
- The first 500 metres of trail is level and a rest bench is located about a 1 km from the entrance. Much of the trail is flat, with sections of rolling terrain with gradual small hills.
- During the winter the trail will be covered in snow.
- Dogs on leash are allowed on the trail.
Construction for this project is complete.
