The 2023 Special Olympics Alberta Winter Games Floor Hockey competition will be taking place at Millennium Place on Field 2 and the Gymnasium. On-site parking is available, with lots of seating for spectators in the arena bleachers.

Floor hockey overview / rules
Special Olympics floor hockey is adapted from the games of ice hockey and ringette and is played on a flat floor surface instead of ice. Two teams play against each other and attempt to shoot a puck into the opponent’s goal using a hockey stick. The athletes use wooden poles (without blades) as sticks and the pucks are felt discs with an open centre.
Special Olympics Canada governs the rules from Special Olympics floor hockey. Athletes attend a skills assessment and are divisioned by coaches based upon skill level into teams of equal ability within an affiliation. Floor hockey is unique within Special Olympics because the sport is played using the exact same rules at every skill level.
Another important rule of Special Olympics floor hockey is that all players on the team, with the exception of the goalie, are required to play equal amount of time during each game.
There will be over 250 Special Olympics athletes from 11 Alberta affiliates competing in the 2023 Winter Games.
