Annual tax notices will be mailed mid-May
April 30, 2025

Strathcona County residents will soon receive their property tax notices, which reflect a cumulative increase of 3.90 per cent. The County continues to have one of the lowest municipal tax rates in the Edmonton urban metropolitan region. 95 per cent of revenues go to services to support citizens, not to banks to pay debts.
“We have worked hard to find the right balance between supporting growth and maintaining the services and infrastructure we currently have,” says Mayor Rod Frank.
The 2025 multi-year budget provides a clear path forward for Strathcona County, focusing on investment in key infrastructure projects and services that enhance the quality of life for residents.
“Property taxes are essential to the services that keep our community running,” says Jennifer Cannon, Chief Financial Officer for Strathcona County. “Without them, we wouldn’t be able to fund core municipal operations, including emergency response, road maintenance, family and community services, transportation, and recreation infrastructure and programs.
“This budget doesn’t just keep our public services running smoothly—it also paves the way for new facilities that our residents have been asking for,” says Cannon. “Over the next few years, we’re excited about a few high-priority construction projects, including the Station 7 firehouse, an indoor multi-use fieldhouse, and The Point Agricultural Centre, which opens later this year.”
The total amount on tax notice is made up of three parts. About 64 per cent goes toward municipal taxes, approximately 35 per cent is collected on behalf of the Government of Alberta for education, and the remaining 1 percent is directed to Heartland Housing to support seniors’ housing.
The estimated impact of a 3.90 per cent increase on a typical residence assessed at $475,000 will be $84 per year, or $7 per month. A typical commercial property in Strathcona County (valued at $1,983,000) will see an increase of $792 per year or $66 per month.
Property taxes are due on Monday, June 30. More information can be found by visiting strathcona.ca/PropertyTax.
