Celebrate the new year with family-friendly fun

Ring in 2025 with Strathcona County’s annual New Year’s Festival!

Join the celebration on Tuesday, December 31 starting at 6 p.m. Free activities will take place at Broadmoor Lake Park, including Festival Place and the Sherwood Park Arena and Sports Centre. The evening will wrap up with fireworks at 8 p.m., early enough for the whole family to enjoy! Remember to dress warmly as activities will take place both indoors and outdoors.

The CPKC Holiday Train is bringing holiday cheer to Josephburg

On Thursday, December 12, the CPKC Holiday Train will pull into Josephburg, stopping at the Moyer Recreation Centre from 5:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Decorated for the holidays with thousands of Christmas lights, the festive train will feature an outdoor music concert with Magic! and Sophia Camara.

Proposed budget maintains services and manages growth

Today Strathcona County Administration began presenting Council with the proposed 2025-2028 budget which includes a 3.87 per cent property tax increase for 2025 to maintain high service levels and introduce a new focus on managing growth. This tax increase is inclusive of the 2 per cent recreation infrastructure tax Council approved in 2023.
