Trail closure
Please note that Strathcona Wilderness Centre trails are currently CLOSED for walking.
Staff will start packing snow in preparation for our ski season when snow reaches a depth of 10 cm. Â Track setting for cross-country ski will begin when packed snow reaches a minimum depth of 10 cm.

Activities, bookings and programs
The Strathcona Wilderness Centre is a year-round destination for outdoor adventure. Located in the Beaver Hills Biosphere, you'll find many forested hiking trails, picnic sites, snowshoeing and world-class cross-country skiing, and much more!
Please leave your pets at home, animals are not permitted at the Strathcona Wilderness Centre.
Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing
Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails are available at the Strathcona Wilderness Centre. Our cross-country skiing page contains everything you need to know including information about rentals, rates and locations.
Camping
Bring your tent or book a bunkhouse and enjoy camping in the wilderness. Year-round, walk-in campsites are available. Camping at the Wilderness Centre is great for families, individuals and groups.
Disc golf
Disc golf is now closed for the season and baskets have been removed at the Strathcona Wilderness Centre. Learn about all disc golf opportunities in Strathcona County.
Walking/hiking
Summer months at the Strathcona Wilderness Centre offer many excellent walking trails. During the cross-country season, walking is available on the snowshoe and multipurpose trails.
Outdoor fitness equipment
Get active outdoors! Outdoor fitness equipment is located by the maintenance building and is open during regular Strathcona Wilderness Centre operating hours.
Wildlife viewing
The forests of black spruce, birch and polar trees and wetlands are home to many plants and animals.
Explore the spruce bog to see squirrels and Labrador tea. Moose, white-tailed deer, snowshoe hares, fishers, porcupines and frogs live along the trails. Year-round birds include chickadees, woodpeckers and owls and migratory birds include Canada geese, ducks, hummingbirds, and swallows. Bird watching and nature activities are available in the Information Centre.
