Dave Anderson is the Ward 2 Councillor for Strathcona County. He’s served in this role since October 2013.

Originally from Kamloops, Dave has called Sherwood Park home for 20 years. He is an active member of the community who works hard to connect with the residents in his ward. By actively listening to their views, needs and concerns, he can best represent them at Council. As part of his role as a Councillor, Dave is part of the Youth Advisory Committee and the Governance Advisory Committee.

Dave has strived to advance and be an ambassador for Strathcona County at various regional tables including:

  • Director, e4c Board
  • Former Chair, Alberta Capital Region Wastewater Commission
  • Former Vice Chair, Edmonton Metropolitan Region Servicing Plan Task Force
  • Former Vice Chair, Edmonton Metropolitan Region Servicing Plan Standing Committee
  • Member, Inter-City Forum on Social Policy
  • Former Chair of Heartland Housing Foundation
  • Youth Advisory Committee
  • Community Living Advisory Committee

He has also obtained an ICD.D designation, which represents a lifelong commitment to excellence in the boardroom, and a desire to stay current and to be a more effective director.

Dave’s passion for his community extends beyond his role with Council. He has spearheaded and participated in many community initiatives, including the creation of a community food bank drive. He also created the “Be Caught Being Active” program which encouraged residents to get outdoors and get active. The program earned Dave the Alberta Parks and Recreation Choose Well Leadership Award for all of Alberta.

Growing up on the Skeetchestn First Nation, Dave is dedicated to bringing awareness to the many unprecedented circumstances that Indigenous peoples have endured and furthering the Calls to Action as outlined by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Dave’s values are strongly focused on faith, family, and community. He enjoys spending time with his three daughters Karen, Mackenzie and Molly.
