On November 24, 2022, Council approved the 2023 Budget. Several service level modifications and fee adjustments were made to recreation and culture services to help address the County’s revenue shortfall, align with changes in community demand, and bring operating costs in line with regional partners.Â

Recreation and culture facility operating hours
Operating hours in all indoor recreation facilities were changed effective January 1, 2023. Adjusted hours were carefully chosen after reviewing trends in facility visits to reduce the overall impact on residents, and align operating hours with facilities in neighbouring communities.Â

Community events
Council approved an approach to lower costs by scaling back the scope of our annual New Year’s Eve celebration rather than cancelling the event. Â
New Year's Eve FestivalÂ
New Year’s Eve Festival (December 31, 2023) at Broadmoor Lake Park will be reduced to a community fireworks display and family-friendly performance.
