Utility billing will be closed during the holiday period from
December 25, 2024 to January 1, 2025

Payments made during the office closure will be processed the first week of January. Need to view or pay your bill? Sign up for MyAccounts to access your utility account online 24/7.

Account balances in My Accounts may not reflect payments made during this time until the first week of January. As long as your payment was made on time no late fees will be charged. Thank you for your understanding.

Canada Post service resumed

As Canada Post returns to work it will take a while to clear the backlog of undelivered mail. Utility bills may continue to be delayed as they catch up. In the meantime you can view and pay your bill online through MyAccounts.

You can also sign up for ebilling through MyAccounts to avoid any future delays or disruptions.

The Utility billing office has moved to the Strathcona Public Services Yard (SPSY) at 370 Streambank Ave. Utility bill payments can by made in-person at SPSY or online through MyAccounts.

Your Strathcona County utility bill includes information about your usage and charges for your utilities.All utility accounts have a 10-digit utility account number.

MyAccounts

Strathcona County has an online system for tax and utility billing called MyAccounts. It is an online user portal that makes it easy and convenient to access your property tax and utility accounts all in one place. Your paper bill includes an account number and access code to register in MyAccounts.

Create an account in My Accounts if you want to view your bill, sign up for ebilling or pay your bill by credit card online.

If you would like to view your utility account or tax account online you will need to sign up for a MyAccounts profile. Then you can connect your MyAccounts to your utility and/or tax account. To register in MyAccounts, customers will need their new account number and access code which will be provided on utility bill or tax notice.

Steps to set up your account

1. Register an account profile in MyAccounts. You will need your email address and you will be asked to create a password.

2. You will receive an email with a 6 digit validation code, enter that code to validate your new profile.

3. Login to MyAccounts using your email address and password from Step 1.

4. To add a utility account to your MyAccounts profile you'll need your utility account number and the six digit access code from your utility bill.

Set up, move or cancel utility services

Strathcona County provides residents with waste, water and sewer (wastewater) services. Other companies provide electricity and natural gas services. Learn more about electricity and natural gas providers and compare rates on the Utilities Consumer Advocate’s Retailers and Distributors page.

Set up waste collection, water and sewer services

You must set up your account at least five business days before the legal possession date. If your home is brand-new, you will also need a water meter and remote installed. We will schedule an appointment for this when you set up your account.

Utility accounts are usually set up in the owner’s name. If you want to set up the account in the renter’s (occupant’s) name, you must complete both of the following forms:

In Sherwood Park or another hamlet

Update banking information

When you move within Strathcona County you will get a new account number. Please make sure to update your bank (including online banking) with the new account number.

Online through your bank

Choose "Strathcona County Utilities" as the payee, then enter the account number on your utility bill. Your account number is the 10-digit number on the top of your first new utility bill.

If you don't want to sign up for MyAccounts you can still pay your bill online. You'll need your 10-digit account number and the access code found on your utility bill.

eBilling

Get your bill by email, instead of postal mail. Your payment due date will stay the same (20 days from the invoice date on the bill).

To receive notification of your bill via email, you will need to sign up for email notifications through the new MyAccounts portal. If you don’t register for email notifications through MyAccounts you will continue to receive a monthly paper bill.

Didn’t get your eBill?

If you didn’t receive your eBill:

  1. Check your junk mail folder.
  2. Make sure your spam filter is set to recognize ebillutil@strathcona.ab.ca as a valid sender.
  3. If neither of the above steps work, call us at 780-464-8273.

Shaw Customers

Some Shaw customers have reported issues receiving their bill emails. The instructions below show how to add the eBill domain and email address to a Shaw account so that it should stop blocking the eBill from showing up.

Equalized payment plan

With an equalized payment plan (or budget billing plan) your utility costs are averaged over 12 months, so you pay an equal amount each month. This means that you always know how much you can expect to pay.

Every September, you either pay an outstanding balance or get a credit on your account, depending on your usage over the year. Your monthly amount is recalculated every October. See current utility rates.

MyAccounts: Installment payment plan

Under the new MyAccounts system, all utility customers on equalized billing must be setup for pre-authorized debit payments from their bank account. In the new system payments will be called installments, and actual billed amounts will be shows with the budgeted amount.

Customers on equalized billing who do not currently have pre-authorized debit payments setup must contact Utility Billing to register for preauthorized debit by October 15, 2023.

Failure to setup pre-authorized debit payments will result in customer having to pay the actual amount due each month.

Customers on equalized billing who are already setup for pre-authorized debit payments do not need to do anything.


Bulk water (truck fill) changes

Truck fill customers will also receive a new account number for the new MyAccounts system. Truck fill customers will have two access codes, one for MyAccounts, and one for the Waterplus system. 

  • Invoiced bulk water (truck fill) customers will receive an account number to access the MyAccounts system
  • Starting in December, Pre-paid bulk water (truck fill) customers will be able to add money to their account through our e-commerce platform. They will not need to create an account in MyAccounts
  • Customers that have a pre-paid bulk water account cannot set up an account in MyAccounts to see their balance. The actual transactions (each fill and the remaining balance) are all stored in Flowpoint (new WaterPlus).

MyAccounts is now live, Please use the account number provided for MyAccounts to prepay your bulk water account.
