Weekend itineraries: spend time outdoors - at night!
Meteor shower, English pies, and Alberta Open Farm Days
This is a great weekend to be outdoors.
The Perseids meteor shower has been peaking the last few nights, but you might still be able to catch a glimpse if you’re lucky. The best place for stargazing is in our own backyard at the Beaver Hills Dark Sky Preserve. A popular spot is at Elk Island National Park due to it being open all day, every day, but make sure you’re prepared for a night trip with warm clothes, and snacks.Â
Another local restaurant which had its beginnings in a food truck, Meat Street Pies has opened their very first brick and mortar store right here in Sherwood Park. You can still order from their brightly coloured food truck; keep your eyes open and you might see it around town!
It’s also Alberta Open Farm Days this weekend. This two-day event gives Albertans a chance to meet local farmers and experience ag-tourism in their own backyard. If you’re lucky, you might even get to taste some fresh food directly from the producer! To find out which farms are participating, click here.
Enjoy the weekend in Strathcona County!
