This season in Strathcona County: find your adventure

The Broadmoor

Looking for cross-country skiing options in Sherwood Park? Look no further! The Broadmoor Golf Course transitions to having groomed ski tracks across its grounds in the winter months. There are also spaces available for sledding, snowshoeing, and walking trails.

Cooking Lake Blackfoot Provincial Park

Another great spot for winter activities! Head to the east side of Strathcona County to enjoy 85 kilometres of track-set trails for cross country-skiing (trails will be set after hunting season closes). This is also where the Birkebeiner takes place. Start your training now to participate in the February event!

Elk Island National Park

A great place to check out during the winter months! As part of the Beaver Hills Dark Sky Preserve, you can experience snowshoeing and stargazing in a truly remarkable setting. Programs are open for registration on their website.

Strathcona Wilderness Centre

A world-renowned facility for cross-country skiing, this location offers cross-country skiing and snowshoeing programs regularly. If you are interested in trying out either sport, rentals are available or bring your own and enjoy a great day in rural Strathcona County.

Skating

Sherwood Park and Strathcona County have so many outdoor ice rinks to choose from! From skating pathways to outdoor rinks, you can have fun outside this winter enjoying any of them. If you aren’t confident in your skating abilities, don’t worry! You can join in the fun by trying crokicurl at the Emerald Hills Sports Pavilion instead.

Sunridge Ski Area

Skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing are available in the river valley right here in Sherwood Park! Sunridge Ski Area lies above the banks of the North Saskatchewan River and is a great option for families or individuals looking to spend time outside this winter.
