Weekend itineraries: end of summer activities
Farmer’s Markets are a popular thing to check out in Strathcona County, and don’t worry if your weekend is already full, they take place during the week. With multiple markets taking place within Sherwood Park such as Baseline, Salisbury, and Sherwood Park and the Ardrossan market for those a little further out, there are plenty of artisans for you to check out. You can find a full list of certified markets here.
If you’re looking to spend time outside for the last long weekend of the summer, consider checking out Ministik Lake Game Bird Sanctuary. This 20,000 acred wilderness preserve is home to many threatened migratory birds. Maybe you’ll be lucky and spot an American white pelican or blue heron. Moose, wolves, and coyotes have also been spotted in the area, so keep your eyes open!
Purple Perogy is another food truck who opened a brick and mortar store in Sherwood Park. A popular sight to see, their purple food truck can be spotted all over Strathcona County during the summer months, and you can find them in their restaurant off Wye Road during the winter months. Enjoy this local business’s “pierogies with a twist” year-round and watch their social media to see where their food truck is going to be this weekend.
Enjoy the weekend in Strathcona County!
