Weekend itineraries: long weekend
Rural Strathcona County
Head out to Cooking Lake-Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area and spend some time amongst the trees. The weather is getting nicer, so it’s a great time to enjoy Mother Nature while going for a hike, bike ride, or bird watching. Make sure to keep dogs on a leash at all times in the area and take a friendly suggestion of us to wear proper footwear; thanks to the melting snow there’s a few muddy spots in the parking lot.
While out enjoying rural Strathcona County, make sure to stop in at Nonnie’s Grill & Artisan Shop in South Cooking Lake. This locally owned grill serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even has desserts available. This roadside gem is a must stop at when out enjoying all Strathcona County has to offer.
Nonnie's also has an artisan section where you can pick up locally made creations and help to support local artists. These one of a kind creations are a great gift idea for birthdays, anniversaries, or to let someone know you were thinking of them. Supporting local is a great way to help the local economy, and it’s a great way to spend a weekend. Head out to Nonnie’s Grill this weekend and find out for yourself.
