Supporting local for holiday shopping

Weekend itineraries: Sherwood Park and Strathcona County

The Art Society of Strathcona County has its annual market taking place at the Red Barn (A.J. Ottewell Centre) this weekend. This is the 10th year that the market has been taking place, so it’s a must-see this weekend! Admission is free, but donations to the Strathcona Food Bank are greatly appreciated. Pick up a unique piece of art for yourself or as a gift and enjoy knowing that you helped support a local artist in our community.

Cup of matcha on coffee shop counter

With the time change from last weekend, it can be tough to adjust to the new times that we have daylight. If you’re struggling to wake up in the morning or you find yourself sluggish throughout the day, this is the perfect excuse for a cup of coffee! Head over to Morning Brew 192 in Aspen Plaza for that sweet, sweet caffeine fix. They recently added a local boutique in their space so you can support other local vendors when stopping in. Grab a coffee for yourself and a gift for someone else, all while supporting local!

Exterior of Statement Junkie Yarn Co.

There’s a new arts and crafts shop in Sherwood Park – Statement Junkie Yarn Co. has officially opened its brick and mortar location! Found in Broadmoor Plaza, this new store has all your yarn needs from tools to kits and even books and patterns for sale. If you have been thinking about picking up a new hobby or a new local place for your hobby’s supplies, make sure to stop by this weekend.

Please ensure that you are adhering to all public health mandates in place, including wearing a mask and physical distancing. Be ready to show your vaccination status, medical exemption or a negative, privately-paid COVID-19 test as part of the Restriction Exemption Program.

Be kind and enjoy the weekend in Sherwood Park and Strathcona County!
