Weekend itineraries: L'Etape by Tour de France is here!
This weekend in Sherwood Park and Strathcona County
L’Etape Canada by Tour de France is a cycling race meant for amateurs who want to experience what it’s like to ride a stage of the Tour de France. This officially sanctioned event is taking place on Sunday morning and starts at Broadmoor Lake Park. Racers will be heading out of Sherwood Park into rural Strathcona County. Feel free to join the fun at the Athlete’s Village, or line the raceway to cheer people on! There will be traffic disruptions taking place Sunday morning to ensure everyone’s safety – more information on that can be found on our traffic disruptions calendar page.
Before or after watching L’Etape, you might be looking for a bit to eat. Lucky for you, Vicky's Bistro is just up the road from Broadmoor Lake Park. This locally owned restaurant and wine bar has fused Mediterranean and Western cuisine and is an excellent option for lunch or dinner. They have a great patio to enjoy the warmer weather we’re expecting this weekend as well! Stop by and enjoy a terrific dinner at Centre in the Park this weekend.
if you missed out on participating in L’Etape because you don’t have a bike or yours is out of commission – that’s an easy fix! Head over to Mud Sweat and Gears to either pick up a new bike from their stock or have your bike tuned up to hit the trails before the weather gets colder. If you have been thinking about looking into e-bikes or getting into mountain bikes, take this as the sign you have been waiting for. Head over to this local store this weekend and speak to the knowledgeable staff about getting into a new sport or hobby.
