Weekend itineraries:orange shirt day
This weekend in Sherwood Park and Strathcona County
Saturday is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. There are plenty of ways to listen and learn from Indigenous voices and honour those impacted by residential schools. There is a ceremony at Broadmoor Lake Park with speakers, presentations, and activities. Make sure to also stop by Gallery @501 to see the latest exhibit. All the activities can be found online here.
The Italian Centre Shop has been open for two years, and it’s hard to remember life without it being in Sherwood Park. This location is the largest of the Italian Centre Shops, and it’s pretty apparent when you step inside. The deli counter alone is 70 feet long! Whether looking for items to make the perfect charcuterie board or getting ready for an upcoming holiday that traditionally has a lot of food, this is a great place to stop by.
While you’re at the Italian Centre, make sure to head into Spinelli Bar Italia. This café, unsurprisingly, has a terrific selection of cakes and pastries, but there’s also a full-service pizza bar and hot table full of ready-to-eat comfort food. They even make fresh gelato! Fingers crossed that this weekend is still nice enough to enjoy their patio before the cold weather arrives.
