Weekend itineraries: Welcome to August!

This weekend in Sherwood Park and Strathcona County

Weekend itineraries: Welcome to August!

Strathcona County is known for its natural areas, like the Beaver Hills Biosphere and Elk Island National Park, but don’t forget about the Alberta Parks in the region, like Cooking Lake-Blackfoot Provincial Park and the Strathcona Science Park. We even have the Strathcona Wilderness Centre to get outdoors and celebrate the long weekend! We’re lucky with so many options that if one of these places is too busy this weekend, there are plenty of other options to check out. Where are you going to head to this long weekend?
Smoothies and bowls from Heal Wellness
New restaurant alert! Heal Wellness is a new acai bowl and smoothie shop that opened up in Emerald Hills last week. They have regular acai bowls as well as superfood bowls, energy and protein smoothies, and green and lifestyle smoothies as well. With the temperatures staying high for the next few days, a smoothie is a great way to stay cool – in more ways than one. 😉

Bikes being repaired at Mud Sweat and Gears
There are still a few weeks of summer which means there’s still a few weeks of bike riding weather! If you don’t have a bike or need to get some repairs done, head over to Mud Sweat and Gears to take a look at what they have. If you have been thinking about looking into e-bikes or getting into mountain bikes, take this as the sign you have been waiting for. Head over to this local store this weekend and speak to the knowledgeable staff about getting into a new sport or hobby.

If you’re looking for other things to do this weekend, head to our tourism pages for more suggestions of ways to support local and find your adventure in Strathcona County.
