Award recipients may be recognized for a single action, or for a contribution or achievement over an extended period of time. Nominees chosen are likely to have made an achievement or contribution of significant credit to Strathcona County and its residents, or demonstrate outstanding and exceptional effort, dedication or achievement.
A maximum of two awards may be presented in a category in any year, except for the Mayor's Award, of which only one is presented.

Agricultural Leadership
Recognizes an individual's outstanding contributions and achievements in agricultural stewardship, innovation and promotion
Arts, Culture and Heritage
Recognizes an individual's outstanding achievements or contributions in literary, visual, performing, film and video arts, or in preserving and sharing local culture and history
Athletic Achievement
Recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding athletic skill both in practice and competition, and has worked hard to develop their abilities and to excel in their sport(s).
Community Service
Recognizes individuals for outstanding achievements or contributions that have improved the quality of life for others
These may include:
- volunteerism
- good citizenship
- humanitarian efforts
- environmental protection and stewardship
Economic Diversification
Recognizes a business or individual professional for outstanding contribution to diversify and strengthen Strathcona County's economy
- May include successful efforts to adapt or expand a business, product or service, or the introduction of a new business that significantly contributes to the diversification of business and industry in our community.
Heroism and Leadership
Recognizes an individual or group for exceptional leadership, or for a courageous act of heroism or braveryÂ

Outstanding Group
Recognizes a non-profit organization or community association for its outstanding and long-lasting contributions to make Strathcona County a thriving, dynamic, caring and safe community
Service to Seniors
Recognizes an individual whose exceptional achievements or contributions have significantly benefited the quality of life for seniors living in Strathcona County
Youth
Recognizes an individual (21 years or younger) whose significant contributions have brought recognition to Strathcona County or improved our quality of lifeÂ
- Focus is on volunteer and community contributions, not academic achievement.
Mayor's Award
Selected from all eligible nominations, the Mayor's Award recognizes an individual or group for the contribution or achievement that merits the highest civic recognition from Strathcona County.
The Mayor's Award recipient is likely to have made an achievement or contribution of a lasting nature, or attained a level of excellence recognized beyond Strathcona County.
