Part 5 : Sign Regulations

5.1  General purpose

5.1(1)

For clarity, a sign is defined as:

  1. (a) a device, notice, or medium, including its support system and other components, that is used or is intended or capable of being used, to attract attention for advertising, identification, or for information purposes.
5.1(2)

The general purpose of this Part is to regulate the number, size, type, form, appearance and location of signs to:

  1. (a) balance the need for signs with safety and aesthetics;
  2. (b) provide adequate and flexible means of identification for commercial and industrial enterprises; and
  3. (c) minimize potential adverse effect of signs on private and public property.
