5.18  Special event signs

5.18(1)

A special event sign used for the purpose of advertising a special event or for providing public notices shall not require a development permit provided:

  1. (a) shall not contain advertising copy other than information specific to the special event;
  2. (b) when located in a road right of way shall:
    1. (i) be limited to an A-frame sign or a post sign;
    2. (ii) have a maximum sign area of 0.55 m2;
    3. (iii) have a maximum height of 0.9 m;
    4. (iv) be located 5.0 m from all other signs within the right-of-way;
    5. (v) be placed no more than five days prior to the event, if it is a singular occurring event;
    6. (vi) be placed no more than two days prior to the event if it is a regularly scheduled event (i.e., farmer’s market);
    7. (vii) be allowed to remain within the right-of-way throughout the duration of the event; and
    8. (viii) be removed within 24 hours following the conclusion of the event.
  3. (c) when located outside a road right-of-way shall be limited to an A-frame sign, a post sign, a portable sign or banner sign.
5.18(2)

A portable sign used as a special event sign shall:

  1. (a) be placed no more than five days prior to the event;
  2. (b) be placed no more than two days prior to the event if it is a regularly scheduled event (e.g. farmer’s market) ; and
  3. (c) be removed within 24 hours following the conclusion of the event.
