Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Strategic Planning and Projects Advisor and help shape the future of Strathcona County! This pivotal role supports senior leadership in aligning corporate plans, service profiles and performance measures to drive excellence across the organization. You’ll collaborate with teams, foster systems-thinking and promote cross-functional collaboration in both planning, projects and policy. Responsibilities:


  • Conduct the annual corporate environmental scan; training and facilitation of a corporate current state analysis to support planning 
  • Advise and recommend continuous improvement approached in the delivery of planning tools and systems
  • Coordinate the planning, facilitation preparation and development of the 4-year Corporate and Department business plans and associated reporting 
  • Implement and advise the corporate program and service framework and service profiles that include performance measures, service levels and cost for all County services in alignment with the Municipal Reference Model to enable benchmarking 
  • Develop and maintain an ongoing system of corporate performance measures and service profiles with service measures to support continuous improvement and best practice research. This includes tracking and reporting on measures for management and Council. 
  • Participate with the Senior Advisor on corporate committees, project teams, communities of practice and other working groups by participating in committee activities, analyzing information and supporting the development and execution of business priorities, planning to support strategic and improvement initiatives
  • Conduct the development, update and management of policies and special projects so that they are accessible, conform to corporate standards, and align with other plans and frameworks that cascade throughout the organization


Qualifications and Skills:


  • A university degree in commerce, business administration, public administration, political sciences or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in strategic or business planning, business cycling process, enterprise performance measurement and policy development 
  • Ability to work across departments and divisions while maintaining corporate wide, centre-led mindset
  • Results orientated with recent success building and maintaining relationships in a corporate setting
  • Problem-solving, analytical and systems-thinking skills
  • Ability to understand the political implications of recommendations and actions
  • Experience in report writing, developing dashboards, summary analysis, and briefing materials
  • Excellent communication skills with experience presenting to a variety of audiences
  • Strong proficiency in Office 365 suite, and experience with SharePoint, Visio and other process mapping, brainstorming and collaborative tools is considered an asset
