Job Description

This posting is for multiple, part-time contract positions 
 


The Adult Wellness Programming team is currently seeking instructors to lead our specialty fitness programs designed for participants with chronic health conditions. Once an instructor is added to our contracted instructor list they will be notified of all future instructing opportunities throughout the year.
 


As a Contract Fitness Instructor, you will have the following:


Responsibilities:


  • Deliver high quality fitness classes for up to 20 participants in a safe and positive environment. This may include individual wellness centre programs, group-based programs, and water-based programs
  • Supervise participants and develop class plans with progressions and adaptations based on abilities 
  • Collaborate and positively interact with the Adult Programming Team
  • Equipment management including setup/takedown of program area 
     


Qualifications and Skills


  • Positive, proven leadership and team-building skills 
  • Proven ability to maintain high standards of safety, quality and cooperation 
  • Proven time management skills and possess the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environments and demands
  • Completion of a post-secondary degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Kinesiology or related field
  • Successful completion of CSEP-CEP (Clinical Exercise Physiologist) and ACSM-CEP (American College of Sports Medicine) 
  • Experience working with participants with chronic conditions
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in exercise instruction
  • Aqua-fitness certification is considered an asset (Fitness Alberta, WaterART)
     


Conditions of Employment


  • Submission of current CSEP-CEP or ACSM- CEP, Standard First Aid and CPR C Certification
