Job Description

Operating from the Strathcona County RCMP Detachment, the Guard plays a vital role in overseeing and ensuring the safety and security of detainees during their custody.


 


Responsibilities:


  • Process prisoners upon their arrival including taking photographs, checking personal effects, audit/complete prisoner booking documents, and preparing and serving prisoner meals
  • Monitor and ensure safety of all prisoners at all times, according to RCMP Policy and Procedures
  • Maintain and clean the holding cell facilities, equipment and supplies
  • Create and or maintain found property files including proper storage and disposal according to RCMP policy and procedures
  • Testify in court on prisoner management when required 


 


Qualifications and Skills:


  • High School Diploma and 3 years related experience
  • Familiarity with PROS, PROS access or the ability to learn this software quickly is an asset
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Ability to quickly adapt to any situation and apply good judgment during emergency situations
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to juggle a variety of tasks
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Computer proficiency to work in a networked environment


 


Conditions of Employment:


  • Ability to obtain an RCMP Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance
  • Availability to work shift work
  • Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties and stand/walk for extended periods of time
