Job Description

This posting is for up to 2 full-time Co-op or Summer Student positions from an Architectural Technology or Interior Design Technology program for up to 4 months. 


(May 5, 2025 to August 29, 2025)


 


We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Architectural or Interior Design Technology Co-op/Summer Student to join our team!


The ideal candidate will support architectural and interior design projects through documentation, specification, and technical assistance. This role requires proficiency in various software tools, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide drawing support and technical assistance, including as-built documentation for existing buildings 
  • Conduct research and prepare detailed drawings, architectural models, specifications, and contracts 
  • Assist in the development and refinement of architectural and interior designs
  • Analyze building codes, by-laws, and technical documents to ensure compliance with space and site requirements 
  • Create manual and CAD (computer-assisted design) drawings, specifications, and 3D virtual models of architectural designs
  • Review contract and bidding documents from project proposals
  • Conduct site and project evaluations to assess feasibility and compliance
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of building drawings and project documentation 
  • Assist with furniture layouts and test-fit scenarios for interior spaces
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and business cases to convey design concepts and project details to stakeholders 
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and provide constructive feedback


Qualifications and Skills:


  • Enrolled in an Architectural Technology or Interior Design Technology post-secondary program along with satisfactory grades
  • Proficiency in software including CAD, BIM, SketchUp, Bluebeam (for plans, elevations, and renderings), Adobe Suite (Photoshop), and SharePoint is an asset
  • Experience with architectural/interior design projects, familiarity with project phases (design to contract administration), knowledge of furniture layouts and test-fit procedures, as well as preparing contract and bidding documents is an asset
  • Capable of efficiently collaborating and coordinating with a multidisciplinary team, including vendors, tradespeople, and various other professionals
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to maintain comprehensive documentation 
  • Ability to maintain clear and concise communication with team members, clients, and other project contributors
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret technical documents, codes, and by-laws 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • High level of attention to detail in all tasks, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project requirements 
  • Previous experience in client-facing roles and cross-disciplinary collaboration is an asset
