This posting is for 1 temporary full-time position up to 12 months
Strathcona County is looking for a skilled and motivated Automotive Mechanic (Fleet Services Technician) to join our team! If you enjoy problem-solving, have experience with diagnostics and repairs and take price in delivering quality work, we’d love to meet you!
Responsibilities:
- Apply the standard knowledge, skills and practices of the trade in which they are qualified and employed
- Must be able to perform all maintenance, service and repair work on all vehicles, equipment, and buses used within Strathcona County
- Be capable of working independently and with limited immediate supervision
- Capability to direct assistants and Apprentices as assigned
- Submit written detailed documentation when vehicle, equipment, and bus repairs are completed.
- Complete all assigned work with the utmost quality and speed
Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the trade and possession of a certificate of license either as an automotive mechanic
- The ability to achieve Provincial CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) status
- Experience using fleet management software
- Thorough knowledge and experience working on various types of on-road and off-road equipment and related equipment repair practices, procedures and preventative maintenance requirements
- Knowledge of current electronic diagnostic programs for chassis and body systems
- Ability to work with a large group and train apprentices with limited supervision
- Ability to perform to written or oral instructions
Conditions of Employment
- Submission of a Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Valid Class 3 Driver’s License with Q endorsement and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
- Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties and stand/walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to work a variety of shifts and overtime may be required
- Ability to be on-call (1 week per rotation)
