Job Description
This posting is for 1 hourly full-time summer position from May – August
The Development Permitting Assistant will assist with the acceptance of development, sign, compliance and building permits, the fulfillment of record search applications, the preparation of statements of compliance and provide assistance to applicants and the public.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the acceptance of planning and development applications (development, sign, compliance and building permits) to ensure applications are complete
- Assist with the fulfillment of record search applications
- Assist with the research and review of planning documents during the preparation of statements of compliance
- Provide assistance to applicants, developers, and the public
- Assist with report preparation, mapping, and notification and information packages for development permit applications
Qualifications and Skills:
- Enrollment in or completion of a Planning or Land Development related program; 2nd or 3rd year enrollment preferred 
- Knowledge of the Municipal Government Act, Municipal Development Plan and Strathcona County Land Use Bylaw would be considered an asset 
- Previous related work experience and/or experience working within the public sector would be considered an asset 
- Excellent computer skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills 
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and timelines 
- Ability to handle confidential information with judgement and discretion 
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
