Job Description

This posting is for 1 hourly full-time Summer Student positions up to 4 months


 


Strathcona County is extending a summer employment opportunity to post-secondary students to work with the Productivity Systems team. Students will be employed with Information and Technology Services from May to August 2025. 


 


This role will focus on providing operational service support for the Productivity Systems team while assisting with the maintenance and deployment of technical solutions. Students will act as the primary point of contact for incoming issues either from our Customer Support Center team or directly from clients. Support will also be provided to the Artificial Intelligence Program as opportunities arise.


 


Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide tier 2 technical support for collaboration technology in the County 
  • Coordinate with tier 1 support to ensure a seamless customer service experience
  • Write technical documentation and support material for a variety of audiences
  • Provide information and personal assistance to clients as needed
  • Assist in developing and troubleshooting automations and other technical deployments
  • Complete administrative tasks such as meeting preparation and presentations


 


Qualifications and Skills:


  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary Computer Science or other related program 
  • Excellent interpersonal and social skills with strong team focus
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adhere to safety protocols, ethics, and professional codes of conduct, as well as municipal guidelines
  • Ability to identify potential issues and redirect them to appropriate team members
  • Experience with SharePoint or other enterprise content management software
  • Experience with task automation using Microsoft PowerShell or other tools
  • Knowledge of machine learning or large language models would be an asset 
  • Experience with customer service in a helpdesk environment is an asset
