This posting is for up to 3 hourly positions
As an Arena Operator II, working out of the Glen Allan Recreation Complex, you will serve and interact with guests, as well as work closely with the Arena Operations team to ensure facilities are clean and safe for guests and staff. This position is responsible for maintaining recreation facilities as it relates to facility inspections and preparation, ice making and maintenance, ice re-surfacing, and event support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide the highest level of guest service to create a seamless, positive guest experience
- Conduct daily activities in a leadership role, assisting peers with the completion of tasks and resolving operational issues
- Interact and build relationships with guests and other staff; provide options and solutions for guest requests
- Follow operational procedures in response to facility emergencies, guest incidents, and ice plant mechanical issues
- Set-up recreational facilities for guests, bookings, and special events
- Carry out regular housekeeping duties to ensure the facility is clean and safe for guests
- Safely operate the ice re-surfacer and arena maintenance equipment to maintain safe, high-quality ice surfaces
- Prepare and clean arena facilities for ice making, sport court installation and turf
- Complete arena and ice/field surface and OH&S inspections in accordance with all OH&S processes and procedures and ensure any deficiencies are documented and communicated to the appropriate supervisor
Qualifications and Skills:
- High School Diploma with 2 years related experience
- Previous municipal experience is an asset
- Knowledge of facility programs, activities, and day-to-day facility operations, including basic ice plant operations, ice making and maintenance, re-surfacer operations, and safe work practices
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent customer services skills and the ability to positively interact with facility guests using strong conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as work independently
- Ability to work varying shifts and hours, including evenings and weekends
Conditions of Employment:
- Current Class 5 Driver’s License
- Submission of a Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR- Level C certification is required
- Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties and stand/walk for extended periods of time
