National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

On September 30, Strathcona County is commemorating National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Join Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers and speakers to learn about the history, heritage, resilience and diversity of Indigenous Peoples and honour those affected by residential schools. 

  • Festival Place, 100 Festival Way
  • Smudging begins at 1:30 p.m.
  • Formal program begins at 2 p.m. 
  • Event concludes at 3:30 p.m.

Finding support over the holiday

Family and Community Services' office and County phone lines will be closed on Tuesday, September 30. Normal business hours will resume on Wednesday, October 1. 

  • Hope for Wellness Helpline is available 24/7 by phone at 1-855-242-3310 or chat in English and French. Phone is available by request in Cree, Ojibway and Inuktitut. 
  • The Residential School Crisis Line is available 24 hours at 1-866-925-4419.
