The Strathcona County and City of Edmonton Joint Planning Study: Boundary Interface Protocols and Strategies (JPS) is a document that will facilitate collaboration and guide the development of strategies and tools to address emerging topics between the two municipalities. The joint study considers items such as; land use planning and management, the natural environment, parks and trails, energy corridors and agriculture within the jurisdictional boundary study area.

The study provides a framework to enable communication prior to the decision making process, to help ensure that each municipality has an understanding of potential impacts from proposed development, within the planning area.  While decisions regarding both bylaws and statutory plans are made by each respective Council: it is believed that through the JPS framework, each respective Administration will be positioned to provide recommendations that accurately reflect cross-jurisdictional issues.
