Spring has sprung in Strathcona County
Happy first day of Spring! It’s a new season which means getting outdoors and trying out some new things. With Spring Break coming up for schools, you might be looking for suggestions of things to do in the next coming week. Keep reading for a few right here in Sherwood Park and Strathcona County.
Take a walk in the wilderness
Spring has sprung this week, so it’s time to quit hibernating and head back outside. Check out some of the great trails in Strathcona County, like the Beaver Hills Biodiversity Trail, and enjoy the sounds of spring awakening.
Support your local hockey team
Your Sherwood Park Crusaders only have a few more games left in their regular season! Don’t miss out on two games later this month at the Randy Rosen Rink in the Sherwood Park Arena. Check out their website to get tickets and cheer on the local Junior hockey team.
Hit up the local pools
Spring break next week means you might be looking for something to do for the kids. Millennium and the Kinsmen are both open and have plenty of programs and times available. Check out the online calendars to find a time that works for you. Don’t forget that Emerald Hills is closed until September for swimming (the second floor is still open!).
Check out what’s new at the museum
The Strathcona County Museum and Archives are a hotbed of activity with plenty of events taking place. They have a paint night on April 4 and a few options for Pysanky making – the traditional Ukrainian egg decorating method. Check out their website and socials for more information and to book your spot.
Support some local artists
The Loft Gallery, run by the Art Society of Strathcona County, is open on weekends for you to check out local artists' art. Stop by the AJ Ottewell Community Centre, aka the Red Barn, and find some unique pieces for yourself or to give as gifts. Psssst… their spring art show and sale is happening at the end of April – mark your calendar now!
