For guests with physical disabilities

Accessible Parking

Dedicated accessible parking stalls are available at the following locations:

  • Kinsmen Leisure Centre (2001 Oak Street) - 8 stalls
  • Sherwood Park Arena (2015 Oak Street) - 13 stalls
  • Community Centre Parkade (401 Festival Lane) - 2 stalls

Accessible Transit 

All Strathcona County Transit buses are 100% accessible. This means that all of our buses on the road are able to have individuals using mobility aids such as scooters, wheel chairs or walkers board our buses and safely restrain their mobility aid. The mobility bus will drop guests off at the Oak Street bus stops or in front of Festival Place. This service must be arranged in advance, so riders are encouraged to book early. Information about this service can be found at strathcona.ca/mobilitybus or by calling 780-449-9680. 


Accessible facility entrances

All main entrance doors to the Sherwood Park Arena and Sports Centre, Festival Place and Kinsmen Leisure Centre buildings are equipped with motion sensors or buttons to open the automatic doors and have curb cuts from roadways and parking lots to the sidewalks leading to each entrance.


Accessible washrooms and change rooms

Accessible washrooms are located inside on the main floors of the Sherwood Park Arena and Sports Centre, Festival Place and Kinsmen Leisure Centre. 

Accessible portable toilets are available outside in the Kinsmen Leisure Centre south parking lot closest to Sherwood Drive.


Stage seating access

The Cineplex Stage located in the Kinsmen Leisure Centre south parking lot is equipped with wide aisle seating to ensure space for wheelchairs or other accessible aids to navigate. The first row at the front of the stage is barrier-free for wheelchair access and seating.


For guests with sensory sensitivities

Earplugs

Free earplugs will be available at all Information Booth locations throughout the festival to aid with sensory needs or sound sensitivities. Information Booths are located at:

  • Festival Place
  • Community Centre
  • Broadmoor Lake Park Plaza
  • Kinsmen Leisure Centre
  • Broadmoor Lake Park Fields

Loud areas 

Loud sounds or music are common at the Cineplex Stage from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., the Community Centre Stage from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and over Broadmoor Lake Park for the Alberta Broadband Networks and Primus Fireworks at 11 p.m.

NOTE: The Royal Canadian Airforce flypast is scheduled for 11:43 a.m. Please note that this can be quite loud. Visitors are welcome to pick up a free pair of earplugs from an Information Booth.


ASL Interpreter

An ASL interpreter will be performing at the Cineplex Stage for the opening and headlining acts from 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.


Service Animals

A service animal rest area will be located near the Kinsmen Leisure Centre south parking lot, equipped with shade, seating, a water station and an animal waste bag dispenser.
