A permit is required when equipment, bins, trucks or materials are left on roads or sidewalks temporarily.

Temporary roadway encroachment permits are required for: 

  • Food trucks 
  • Garbage bins 
  • Landscaping materials such as piles of dirt, sod, or other materials 
  • Pod containers

Food truck requirements 

To qualify for a permit for temporary food truck parking, please ensure the following requirements are met: 

  • A safe parking lane is available 
  • The service window must face the sidewalk and traffic cones/delineators placed around the truck. 

Parking is not permitted: 

  • Within 10 m of a crosswalk 
  • On arterial or major collector roadway 
  • Overnight 

Food trucks are restricted at the following locations: 

  • Oak Street 
  • Centre in the Park 
  • Centennial Park 
  • Fir Street 

Food trucks also require a business fire inspection.
