Learn the ins-and-outs of riding Strathcona County Transit including planning, paying and taking your trip.

Taking Transit for the first time can be an intimidating experience, but we've developed a series of videos to help take the mystery out of taking the bus with our Take the Bus series. Watching all three videos will take you approximately 25 minutes and should give you a good idea of how to get started riding transit.

How to plan your trip

  • Types of service and popular destinations - commuter and local
  • Where to catch the bus - terminal and local stops
  • Customer service options and locations
  • Understanding Rideguides, maps and schedules
  • How to plan your trip to get where you are going on time
  • Where to find more information

Paying for your trip

  • Transit fare options and what Transit costs
  • How to pay using cash, tickets and passes
  • What is a transfer and how do I use it
  • Subsidized fare options and how to apply
  • Smart fare - what is it and when will it go into effect

Please note: since this video has been produced the Arc electronic fare payment system has gone into effect for adult, youth, and senior riders. Passes and tickets for these groups are no longer available. To find out more about Arc, please visit myArc.ca for more information on this regional fare payment program or call 1-888-302-0001.

A new payment video will be forthcoming in late 2024 or early 2025, once all fare groups have been fully transitioned to Arc (subsidized fares and Mobility Bus clients).

Taking your trip

  • Finding your stop
  • Boarding and exiting the bus and available assistance
  • Transferring between buses

Please note: Covid 19 protocols mentioned in this video are no longer required, however wearing a mask is still a great idea during colder months when respiratory illnesses are at their peak. We encourage you to do whatever makes you feel the most comfortable. Transit continues to do deep cleaning and has an air filtration system on all our buses to help make taking transit a healthier experience for everyone.
