County seeks input on goals and priorities for strategic plan update

Through a new public survey, Strathcona County is asking residents to provide input on goals and priorities to help shape the 2023-2026 Strategic Plan.

Strathcona County’s strategic plan was approved in April 2013 and updated in May 2018. It is now time to look at updating the plan to identify where the County needs to focus to meet community needs.

“A strategic plan guides where the County puts time, energy and resources,” says the County’s Chief Commissioner Darrell Reid. “It guides decisions on services, programs and projects delivered to the community. Updating this overarching plan will tie everything the County does together, to focus our efforts on achieving our vision of becoming Canada’s most livable community.”

Looking at trends and recent community input, four draft key areas of focus have been identified for the County to address over the four years: economic prosperity; community health, well-being and inclusion; responsible growth; and municipal excellence.

The survey asks residents about how well they believe these areas of focus (the strategic goals) and the priorities will support achieving the vision, and to comment on other ways the County can support this proposed direction.

Survey feedback will inform the development of the 2023-2026 Strategic Plan that will be presented to Council for approval in the spring of 2022.

The strategic plan survey runs until November 21.
