Strathcona County appoints Interim CAO

Strathcona County’s Council has appointed an Interim Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) following Darrell Reid’s retirement, effective January 31, 2025. 

Jennifer Cannon, currently the County’s Associate Commissioner of Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer, will assume the CAO role as Council continues the recruitment process for a new CAO.  

“We are pleased to have capable staff at all levels, including our executive level. We believe that Ms. Cannon is up to the task of assuming the CAO role as we continue through the hiring process,” notes Strathcona County Mayor Rod Frank. “Her experience in supporting corporate decision making and providing guidance and leadership to administration and Council will be key to a smooth transition into this interim role.” 

The County’s CAO leads the development, implementation and administration of all policies and programs established and approved by Council; guides and advises Council on legislation and municipal operations and provides information to support Council in making informed decisions.   

The hiring process for Strathcona County’s next CAO is underway with the preferred candidate to be decided by Council.
