Announcing 2023 Strathcona County Awards of Excellence recipients

A local athlete who has run over 115 marathons. A two-time Queen Elizabeth ll Medal recipient who dedicated countless hours of time to community service and education after a life changing injury. A school based social worker who goes above and beyond and fosters community connection. A youth who demonstrates high levels of leadership not only at his school, but within and beyond Strathcona County. These are just a few of the individuals, businesses, and organizations among the 2023 Strathcona County Awards of Excellence recipients.

Drumroll please! The results are in... Strathcona County has been declared a phenomenal place to live, work, and play! The 2022 Public Satisfaction Survey results demonstrate an overwhelmingly positive response from residents; it's clear that Strathcona County is a safe, connected and great place to live.

Evacuation order lifted in Strathcona County

As of 1 p.m. today, the County has lifted the evacuation order for everyone in the area between south of Township Road 540 and north of Township Road 534; and east of Range Road 221 and west of Range Road 215.

Final tax increase comes in lower than expected

Strathcona County’s final combined tax increase for 2023 (including municipal, education, library, and Heartland Housing) is 2.9 per cent, lower than originally anticipated largely due to the provincial education tax staying steady and growth in the County.

Recreation and Culture Strategy community check-in, have your say!

Strathcona County is inviting households and youth in Grades 7-12 to share their feedback to help plan for the next four years of recreation and culture opportunities in the community, by completing an online survey between May 1 to 22.

FIRE BAN IN EFFECT FOR STRATHCONA COUNTY

A fire ban has been declared for all of Strathcona County, effective at 12 noon on May 1. The ban applies to all rural areas, hamlets and Sherwood Park.

Strathcona County focuses on mental health

Mayor Rod Frank has officially declared May 1 to 7 as Mental Health Week in Strathcona County. This year the County will highlight the importance of mental health education and how it contributes to a more connected and supported community.
