In January, Strathcona County Family and Community Services applied to Alberta Children’s Services to serve as the Family Resource Network hub for Strathcona County.

Strathcona County is successful in its application to become the hub and received a $900,000 provincial grant to support new Family Resource Network programming.

In consideration of the COVID-19 pandemic, Strathcona County is suspending all non-sufficient funds (NSF) service charges and penalties on general accounts receivable invoices, for the period of April 1 to July 31, 2020.

Strathcona County is turning over a new leaf this spring. Starting May 4, extra yard waste will be required to be in paper yard waste bags or reusable containers for collection. Yard waste in plastic bags will no longer be accepted.

Strathcona County continues to align its activities and services with Alberta Public Health’s direction for addressing COVID-19, taking necessary preventative measures to limit the spread of infection and, ultimately, to help keep our employees, customers, community and visitors healthy and safe.

At 6:40 a.m. this morning, a Strathcona County transit bus heading west on Fir Street was struck by a truck travelling south on Sherwood Drive. 

Residents encouraged to stay informed on temporary waste collection service changes

In alignment with Alberta Public Health’s direction to address COVID-19, Strathcona County has implemented additional preventative measures to limit the spread of infection and, ultimately, to help keep our employees, customers, community and visitors healthy and safe.

The health and safety of our community, including our staff, remains our top priority, and the COVID-19 situation continues to change rapidly.

Strathcona County activated its Emergency Management Agency on January 31, 2020 to action contingency planning and preparation to respond to a potential COVID-19 outbreak within our community. Strathcona County's Director of Emergency Management is receiving information directly from the province.
