Strathcona County excited to open new pickleball courts

Opening of courts in Josephburg latest sign of sport’s growing popularity

Strathcona County is now home to four more pickleball courts with the official opening of the Josephburg Pickleball Courts on Thursday, June 3. This brings the total number of pickleball courts available in Strathcona County to 22.

The opening of the courts represents the wonderful partnership between Strathcona County and the Josephburg Agricultural Society (JAS). The JAS has been a vocal advocate and partner for sports and recreation in Strathcona County.

In collaboration with JAS and Strathcona Pickleball Association, Strathcona County began designing and constructing these new courts in January 2020. The facility was complete in less than 18 months, despite the ongoing pandemic. In addition to the four outdoor courts, the new facility includes two basketball courts.
