Gallery@501 invites you to experience “Inhabiting Spaces: A Sense of Place”

Discover an exciting array of captivating artworks that express our relationship between human existence and the environments we inhabit.

Strathcona County is pleased to present a new exhibition, Inhabiting Spaces: A Sense of Place, featuring artworks by members of Gallery@501. The exhibit opens at the gallery on December 12, 2023, and shows until January 11, 2024.

Inhabiting Spaces: A Sense of Place brings together artists who express their unique perspectives on what it means to share and exist in the spaces and places we find a connection with. Through various mediums, the artists explore their connection to the places they occupy using themes of identity, memory, nostalgia and belonging.

"We are excited to continue to support local artists to show their exceptional talents through exhibition opportunities in our beautiful Gallery@501,” says Curatorial Assistant, Diana Ohiozebau. “Together, we celebrate and build connections and collective appreciation for the creative strength in our community.”

Visitors to the exhibition can expect to be taken on a journey through diverse artistic expressions in media such as painting, sculpture, textiles, mixed media and more. From everyday objects to rural landscapes and portraits, these artists express their personal stories and connections to cherished places and spaces.

The public is invited to join the exhibiting artists at a public reception on Friday, December 15 at 6:30 p.m. at Gallery@501. This event and admission to the gallery is free.
