Ring in the new year at Broadmoor Lake Park

Ring in 2024 with free, family-friendly festivities on Sunday, December 31 starting at 6 p.m. The evening will conclude with spectacular fireworks at 8 p.m., early enough for even the youngest of festival goers to enjoy. The fun will take place at Broadmoor Lake Park and includes activities at Festival Place and the Sherwood Park Arena and Sports Centre.

“For those looking to take part in the celebration, we remind everyone to dress warmly as activities will take place both indoors and outdoors. Activities include snowshoeing, s’mores, ice sculptures, cabane à sucre, shinny hockey, skating and more!” says Cassandra McDonald, Outdoor Recreation Community Coordinator. “Warm up with hot chocolate or apple cider and enjoy performances by an aerial artist or fire dancer.”

Fireworks are best viewed from Broadmoor Lake Park on the plaza. If you are in your vehicle, tune into 106.7 FM to hear the choreographed music. Free earplugs will be available inside Festival Place and the Sherwood Park Arena at the information booths, to aid with sensory needs or sound sensitivities.

Free Transit Park N’ Ride will be available for attendees departing the Bethel Transit Terminal beginning at 5:30 p.m. Buses will run every 15 minutes to Festival Place and back. The last departure is at 8:30 p.m. from Festival Place.

Drivers are reminded that Festival Way will be closed from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Resident-only parking along Oak Street remains in effect from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

In the spirit of giving, attendees are encouraged to bring donations for the Strathcona Food Bank.
